!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
This is suspiciously cheap. $1550 for a M/T 2001 325i with a clean title and what looks like reasonably straight body? Whaaaat. How bad of a boyfriend would I be if I told my girlfriend she should buy this?

Probably imminent VANOS failure or something. It shouldn’t be that cheap.

They gave a short, vague description, and removed the licence plates before taking the photos - it could be a good deal, but I suspect that the seller is trying to hide the cars seedy history.

“Fast” is suspicious.

I feel like the fact that the seller put “very fast” in the description is a big ol’ red flag.

Slower than my Miata. Then again, with a manual it’s probably “fast” to people who have no concept of an actual fast car.

Aftermarket headlights, blacked out kidneys, started the ad with “very fast”, and no plates.

It’s an outright lie. Source: I own an ‘00 323 manual. Love the car but”fast” is not one of its attributes.

There isn’t a ton of risk with this thing if it checks out mechanically, IMHO. I know some of the plastic bits (water pump IIRC) are an issue with these, but if you catch in time or replace proactively you’re ok.

Well, I think that parts of it are - but it’s the bearings that typically fail, I believe. Regardless, it’s a common problem with these things. Been lucky with mine thus far- - but need to replace it soon before it fails. My experience may not be representative - I’ve had it for almost 17 years now and haven’t had much trouble with it, period. Only time it stranded me was when the throttle cable snapped, of all things. The price seems cheap - which could mean it’s a POS, or it might be a bargain. You’d want to go over it carefully to see if it’s a win.

If their lawn maintenance is the same as their car maintenance, run for, far away.
